to all,

im doing a network solution for three machines, altogether running aix 4.3. 2 of them (1&2) are just small ones (one with java, the other one pure C++) and the other one (3rd)has a disk capacity of 15GB and runs just a clear OS. i want to configure the 3 machines so that all users can store their files on the 3rd machine.

it'll be easy for me backing up day's work in one machine, right?

hi
One possible solution is to create two filesystems
on third machine (nfs) and mount them one each on
first and second machine.
Another solution may be to cause users to store thier
files in thier respective machines and then schedule
an script to rcopy/ftp to third machine and at the same
time to remove the files from respective machines.
And there may be some more alternative methods......

it is also possible to configure 1rst & 2nd machine so that when a user login, it'll automatically mount FS on 3rd machine? how? can you give me a detail step using smit?

thanks again in advance.

Try searching for automount, is a old solution to an old but very conmon problem: it can automate mounting of home directories (or another NFS filesystems)... and you can use NIS to create all users in the bigest machine and use that users in a Unix domain in all machines.

I hope it works...
