Hey everyone,
I've got a little problem. I'm trying to mount a filesystem on one machine onto another machine. When I attempt to do this it says "NFS service is not running on {remote machine name} To start NFS, log onto {remote machine name} and type "/etc/nfs start"

I have done this...and have even done reboots also.

The error doesn't change. I have noticed in the system log file that i get this error

(the remote machine name is "gunner")

Aug 18 15:28:57 donnan syslog: SCOADM: localhost {sco_nfsServer} {gunner} error SCO_OFACE_MSG_ERROR {error SCO_OSA_ERR_PROCESSING_FAILURE {General failure occurred in processing the request.}} {SCO_NONSTD_CMDS_ERR_showmount {gunner: RPC: Program not registered} 1}}}

I have gone to the license manager and nothing in there is unregistered. they had folders mounted both ways....then i reinstalled the OS on a new machine for our main server...then just recently I upgraded the backup (test) machine to 5.0.5.

I really can't find anything in the sco tech docs on this one....here are the patches that i have applied to both machines....which by the way are both running SCO Openserver 5.0.5

rs505a release suplement for SCO Openserver 5.0.5
oss610a E820 memory sizing boot patch
oss600a Year 2000 supplement
oss497c core OS supllement
oss471e Intel Pentium Microcode Driver

any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanx

What filesystems and directories have you got exported in /etc/exports ? It may be as simple as that. Although, that said, we use NFS extensively, and it has it's own special requirements !

I don't even have a file named /etc/exports This is a rather clean machine......I have a business basic program and database...which was just copied onto the /u drive..and an older version of microsoft's foxpro. I just did the install on the server about 2 or 3 months ago...and the test machine..much more recently
