When I try to mount an exported filesystem on an SP system from a non-SP System I get always "acces denied" .
From an SP system it is OK !!!

Hi Raylin,
I have more as 30 filesystems from non-SP, which mounted on SP. Please write details about your problem.
Boris.

mounting a filesystem on SP from SP ==> Ok

mounting a filesystem on non SP from SP ==> OK

mounting a filesystem on SP from non SP ==> Not OK !!!

mount: 1831-011 access denied
he file access permissions do not allow the specified action.

What does 'lsnfsexp' say??

on the SP system which exports the filesystem it shows the exported directory and the allowed hosts.(I inserted the 3 forms of the accessing Host to avoid name resolution problems)

exporting SP System bssp07a0 :

root@bssp07a0:/>lsnfsexp
/comnet -access=r230sp06:r230sp05:bsrs02a0.migrosbasel.ch:bsrs02a0:BSRS02A0

non SP System bsrs02a0 which tries to mount :

root@BSRS02A0:/>mount bssp07a0:/comnet/wv50 /mnt
mount: 1831-011 access denied for bssp07a0:/comnet/wv50
mount: 1831-008 giving up on:
bssp07a0:/comnet/wv50
The file access permissions do not allow the specified action.
root@BSRS02A0:/>

Hi Boria
Have you tried to mount from a non SP system an exported filesystem on an SP system ?

Is there perhaps a Kerberos problem ?

Hi Raylin,
yes I tried and do this very offten. I mount non SS filesystems from IBM and SUN and no problem.
I use Kerberos too and no problem.
My AIX 4.3.3

Hi Boria
I found a solution :

Wenn I make an entry in the /etc/hosts on the exporting SP system with the host name of the non SP system (which makes the mount) it works ...

In the other direction (exporting a fs from a non SP system and mounting from an SP system there is no need to make an entry in the /etc/hosts.

P.S. : both systems have an /etc/netsvc.conf with hosts=local,bind

It seems that NFS in a AIX/PSSP environment makes only a local name resolution

Hi,
I have in /etc/hosts all "hosts ip_address" from my lan

Boris

I too observed that this NFS behaviour is depending from the version of bos.net.nfs.client. (dns resolution or not)
