I'm struggling with an NFS mount and I would appreciate
your help.

My NFS mount on serverA is hung. The mount is coming from serverB.

lssrc -g nfs shows all the nfs daemons running.
showmount -e on serverB shows the filesystem name exported and name of serverA.
/usr/bin/rpcinfo -u serverB mount is ready and waiting
/usr/bin/rpcinfo -u serverB portmap is ready and waiting
/usr/bin/rpcinfo -u serverb nfs
rpcinfo: RPC: Timed out
program 100003 version 0 is not available
/etc/filesystems on serverA shows the nfs filesystem
#df on serverA shows NFS server serverB not responding still trying.

I can ssh to the servers from one another.
Both the servers are running AIX 5100-05

any help would be greatly appreciated

Try on serverA to change the nfs version of the nfs-mount to either 3 or 2? (Use smit chnfsmnt for this)

It's probably set to 'any' now, meaning use any version that's available.

There was a problem with NFS in 5.1 and 5.2 at the earlier maintenance levels. Going to 5.1 ML6 (or 5.2 MO4) stopped the problem. However, I would recommend you get your 5.1 system up to 5.2 (ML 7) at least because support is supposed to end for 5.1 on April 1.

Sometimes the only solution to these NFS hangs is to boot the box.
