Hi,

How do I log the error messages generated by the NFS mounts on the server to a log file. The syslog is enabled with *.debug and *.crit to a specified file. We have got a few issues where the app guys say that it is due to NFS but we haven't seen any NFS messages logged in the file. I am not sure if this the only way to log the error messages or if there is any other way to redirect the output to a file.

TIA

Hi ,

One thing to look at is when the apps guys says it is NFS ,
can they run the task causing the error while you watch normally the error will be generated on the screen
The apps guy should know what task/program or unix command the application is running

Also
in syslog.conf you can add daemon errors ( i.e. nfsd is a daemon so)

daemon.notice /tmp/daemon.log
daemon.err /tmp/daemon.log
daemon.crit /tmp/daemon.log

( if you do man syslogd , it tells you the description of
the priortites i.e. notice, err, crit ) then set accordingly

Thanks DSMARWAY,

I'll give it a try and come back to you.

Thanks Again
