Hi all,

ive set up a redhat 7.0 box at work. Ive got wu-ftpd working and the root ftp directory is /var/ftp/msg. I set up nfs to have this same directory exported and mounted by another box (hp-ux). It works temporarily, after any amount of time - say about an hour - the redhat system hangs completely, blank screen and not even the caps lock light on the keyboard lights up.

/var/log/messages mentions lockd, but i cant be sure if the message is logged to syslogd before or after the system hangs.

I've disabled ipchains to make sure that wasnt interfering, and /etc/exports contains the following
--
#/etc/exports
172.24.33.141 /var/ftp/msg(rw)
--

The hp box mounts the file system correctly, but i am truly stumped as to why the redhat box hangs after a while.

Ive disabled all the services i dont need, but obviously left all nfs and portmap stuff running.

If anyone has any idea why this may be happening id be extremely grateful.

Many thanks
Nick.
