I've recently purchased a Gigabyte nForce 2 400 Ultra Mobo and want to put a ATI card into my system but I was told of a conflict with the nforce chipset and ATI video cards.

I've heard that previous nforce chipset do not support ATI cards. (Chip manufaturers wars - Nvidia vs ATI).

Is it true that if I put a ATI card into my mobo, it won't accept it. Or is it just a romour?

Thanks

Unfortunately, if I buy the card I can't return it. Althought that would probably be the best way to find out.

Any talk of a general Nforce2 and ATI conflict are untrue.
We use the Gigabyte GA-7N400pro 2 in many of our system builds and I can assure you they work just as well with ATI cards as Nvidia.
ATI do seem to have the upper hand ATM with most of their range of GPU's
