Does anyone know if V6 will support NFAS with two DS1s? It is my understanding that it does not, but I wanted to be sure.

Trying to get an extra b channel?

Not quite, our carrier will treat both DS1s as one large trunk group if our switch supports NFAS, otherwise it will only do non-intelligent overflow at an extra cost to us monthly if we have to have it set up as two trunk groups.

Whats new for ISDN trunking in R6?

Enhancements to ISDN Trunking
The Redirecting Number information element can be used to present the originating calling id to twinned devices (where supported by the carrier).

Calling Name can be presented for outgoing calls (where supported by the carrier).

So no nfas.

Does this mean we can modify the name much like the number we can already do?

I suppose so but since my R6 lab has yet to arrive however:

• Send Names: Software level = 6.0+
This option is available when the Switch Type above is set to DMS100. If set, names are sent in the display field.
• Names Length: Software level = 6.0+
Set the allowable length for names when Send Names is set above.

Probably a side benefit of Avaya buying Nortel.

Majority of my sites run NI2.. Though I've seen where they run NI2 emulation off a DMS100 switch, so I wonder if that would still work..

I think DMS100 is closer to NI1.
