I have 3 t1's in a ISDN trunk group. T1 #1 Primary D channel T1#2 Secondary D channel. T1#3 no D channel. Trunkk group will not allow me to assign the 24th channel in T1 #3. Signal group is setup for NFAS. All channel up and active except 24th channel on the 3rd T1. Carrier has it provisioned as a B channel. Anyone seen this before What did I miss.

Thanks in Advance
ED

Yes, on your 3rd PRI, on the DS1 form "change ds1 01AXX", on the "Signaling Mode:" you need to make it "isdn-ext", this will then allow you to use your 3rd PRI's 24th channel as a B channel, instead of a D-channel. I have set several of them up, and just checked one for you, that is using a similar NFAS setup (2 D channels on the first 2 PRI's, and the 3rd PRI is all B channels)

Mitch: You are the Man!! That did the trick. Look what Denver said when they closed the ticket!!!!

This is an administration issue. You have administered the tertiary DS1 as ISDN-PRI. If you need programming assistance please call

Therefore a Star for you!

Thanks Again

Mitch,

I am stunned that I found this post as I had to deal with this today. Thanks to a non-billable hint from Avaya, and review of the admin guide, I did exactly as you wrote. Change the DS1 to isdn-ext. Then I was able to have the board location in the sig group and also put port 24 in the trunk. However my luck stopped as the channel status'd out of service - FE. Do I just need to call the provider and have them bounce the 24th channel? They were the ones who told me they were seeing it as a B and sending calls to it!

DmanNJ, try busy/release on the board, or just try unplugging the card, and reseating it, that might be enough to kick start it, if not, sure, call the provider. I have done this with Paetec several times (setup a 3rd PRI with 2 already going as NFAS, as allB channels)
