We just got a couple of the Nexus 7010 platforms in our lab to test out.. I must say I'm really liking them. NX-OS is new (well the IOS piece is) and surprisingly works! I've been testing many of the features on the box and all are working better then expected. The sweetest feature that the box brings is ISSU software upgrades. I tested this and it worked great.
The great thing about the Nexus is they're getting back to the basics. It doesn't have the bells and whistles like some would expect from a Cat6500, but for a server farm you don't really use all of those features.
Cisco turned the Cat6500 into a swiss army knife, which unfortunately came with consequences. In our environment we have so many bugs with the 6500. Every issue is different too as each issue changes based on the line modules you use. The device operates totally different depending on if you use CFC or DFC modules, etc.. It will be a nice thing to see the 6500's go by the wayside.
Anyways thought I'd just let you all know that Cisco has turned out a great product with the Nexus platforms.
