Next week I will get a 2650 in max config. But is it fast?

I will get a Dell 2650 with max procesors, 6GB ram, 3 18 GB drives (raid-1 plus spare) and 2 FC HBA.
Operation system will be WIN2K Advance server and running IIS5 and SPS

Will this be a fast server or should I have stayed on a 6450

You don't mention the most important things, like how many concurrent users, what types of pages, how fast of a network link, and that good stuff. Any server will be fast if not doing anything!
And what is SPS?
Things that would have made it faster are:
-having another hdd, then you could have two mirrors (on separate controllers), one for OS, one for Apps
-Hopefully you're using HW raid, not sw
-For the $$ you saved on the 2650 v the 6450, you probably could have bought two 2650's one for IIS, and one for SPS

Server will be on 1Gbit/s ethernet.
Number of concurrent users I don't know, but there could be as many as 700-900 users.
SPS is Microsoft Sharepoint Portal Server
HDD will be 2 x 18 GB 10.000 RPM + one spare active disks on there own channel to the raid cntl. (This is only for the C: drive data will not be on the server)
2 Qlogic 2200F HBA's. Data will be on a StorageTek SVA9500
I have some "spare" 6450 that I could have used but I will get 4 2650 monday. One is the one I ask about here.
SPS req. IIS så I will put that on the same server.

My biggest "but" is that I don't know if SPS will use more then 2GB ram.

Yep, that should be plenty fast. But you could have got the 15K drives for a few extra $$$ :)

It comes with two GBits nics so you can team 'em for extra bandwidth or fault tolerance

Since we don't have any data on the local HDD I just went for the 10.000 RPM drives. The we can still try to keep the same type of HDD in most of our servers.

Why advanced server though? Seems like a waste of money unless you are clustering or load balancing across mulitple servers.

I want to use Advance server so I can use more then 2GB for SharepointPortalServer.
