Hiee!

I’m pretty new to the newsgroups thing and need a little bit of help.

I need to view some multimedia files, but I’m unable to. I can’t view rar files.

I downloaded winrar, but I still can’t figure out where to go from here.

For example:

What do I do if I’m within a newsgroup and I want to view a multimedia even that has 32 attachments?

Do I need to compile all 32 attachments within Outlook?

And how do I extract those files using winrar?

I’m pretty confused and would appreciate any kind of help.

Also, is this the right forum to post this kind of a question? Are their any other forums that would be better?

Thanks,
Jenny

Save the 32 attachments to a temp folder, these should be in the format file.rar, file.001, file.002, file.003, ect..
Open Winrar
Use Winrar to open the first rar file in the sequence, (the one with the .rar extension)
Winrar should then show you the contents of the compressed file squence.
You can then use Winrar to Extract the original file set from the rar compressed sequence.
Now you should have a completely different set of files, or perhaps in your area of interest, one big multimedia file that you can use.

Good Luck

Hi french01,

So, I shouldn’t combine and decode all 32 files?
What if none of the files have an .rar extention? What if they just have .r01 or .r02 etc.?

I can’t get to far when I’m trying to extract the files using winrar.

I receive two options…
1. Process all files in all volumes from the current.
2. Process Selected files only.

Regardless, whatever I chose I receive this...

You need to have the following volume to continue.
<there will be info. here>
Then it'll say...
Insert a disk with this volume and press ok to try again or press cancel to break extraction.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do?

Thanks,
Jenny
