We actually heard the roar of the avalanche 3 miles from our house. (Yes, it was closer to our house than it was to Snowbird Ski Resort .) And, considering that the avalanche was across the road from the 150-year-old Granite Quarry from which Pioneers extracted the stone for the Salt Lake City Mormon Temple, yes, it was just about "100 years wide".
