After doing several PR 7.6.200 updates & my new venture into Best of OE w/the above, I can offer some suggestions:

1. If you have win98 WS, be sure it is second edition w/all service packs. You may still have issues. If it is nt4 WS, be sure you have sp6a. You may still have issues. If you have win2k, be sure you have sp4 w/hot fixes. You may still have issues. If you have xp, make sure you have latest updates. You may still have issues. Do you detect a theme, here? You get a star.

After installing update, go to downloads & install anything relevant you see in this list. Download & install everything from the payroll support link. Ask macola for the fixes for quarterly reports, deduction history, screen printing, 1009 printing, etc. Check ALL your printing of all forms & reports to all client printers & to screen after initializing the printdft & reptpass files (this forces the users to reselect printers since they did a major re-write of printing in this version). I even had a situation today where the report generated little squares on the screen, spooled file or print to file version of the report, but opening the spooled prt from win explorer didn't have the little boxes. Warn win2k/xp users that they may need to use the font dialog box now for their reports. Show them how to use it, since most reports default to font 11 & cut off on the right side of the page. They'll complain at first, but will get used to it shortly. After installing the client update, be sure you go into macola & run a process that does read/write such as recalc acct balances. Don't be lazy. It's not fun to leave a client site 2.5 hours away w/o checking this only to find out that one lousy little workstation has those great jmp0015i errors that NOTHING, virtually NOTHING, seems to fix.

I have yet to try this with a site that uses ICRs extensively. However, I have found that compiled crystal 7 reports that were added to the menus in 7.6.100a es ext files linked to the crystal compiled exe don't run w/o errors, expecially when dragged from the macola menu over to the shortcut workspace in progression explorer (std). The fix I use for now is either a) to recreate the exe on the shortcut menu directly rather than through dragging from the macola menu. Beware: type in the full path name, don't browse. 2) Implement PWE & add to a PWE tab. Now that most users have decent computers, PWE is a real option & works well for organizations w/multiple users having similar job functions.

Go to odbc data sources & make sure macola client install created an _dataxx_isolve driver for every macola db INCLUDING tutorial. If you deleted macola electronics from data_00, figure out a way to add it back if you are pvsw.
