Newly added security group in Active Directory not appearing

I've just created a new security group in Active Directory and when I go to set up security permissions on a folder, the new group is not appearing in the list of computers and users for our domain.

I have forced a replication in AD Sites and Services but still no joy. It appears in the list when I open AD Users and Computers but no where else. I'm at a loss to know why this isn't appearing.

Anybody here had something similar happen to them? Am I missing something obvious? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

are you certain you made a security group and not a distribution group??
and what scope does it have? Global? Domain local?

My god I've just seen what I've done. You're right it was a distribution group and not a security group. Now I feel embarassed. What a fool, sorry.
