My windows system was infected by a strange virus, but i managed to make diskette copies of some code i was working on.

Now I have DOS/windows diskettes with text files and virus. The virus easily copy to DOS machines and develop 'bad sectors' on hard disks (FORM virus??).

Question: is it safe to read such diskettes using red hat linux? I want to recover the code files.

yes, assuming that the virus is not developed for a nix box. With that you should check to see what type of virus and read about the payload. My guess would it would be fine.

yes the s and the w in anwser was a slight of hand plus the other one was taken ;)
