We are in process of migrating from SQl 2000 to 2005. We are doing a side by side since we have gotten a new server. I am working on imorting all my DTS over. I have used the import and saved them in MSDB like it was in 2000. Question on how to just view the package. From what I have read you have to use BIDS. Do I just import it using that. BIDS is all new to me so excuse the simple questions.

I haven't used BIDS at all yet. Looks like I create a project and choose Integrations services as the type. Then I would have to import the package from the server in order to just view the package? Then if I make changes I export it? Also can I import multiple packages into a project? When I am making changes would I save it the local drive and then export it when I am done? Is there way to try to run it using a scheduled job if I make changes before exporting it back to the server.

Also any good links anyone has to some basic with BIDS and maintaining/viewing SSID

You'll need to export the SSIS packages back to the OS to edit them within Visual Studio.

Yes you can have more than one SSIS package within a single project.

After you edit the package you'll need to push it back into the SQL Server.
