Newby question on tab reports.

I have a report to make for our Nurses at me Hospital. They need a report for their schedules. The need it like a cross tab report except in the cross tab report the data fields are summarized. I have a SQL database as my data source. I need employee name down the far left column and around 42 columns for the day number. In the data field I need the Start Time such as 7am or 7pm. When I enter my data field I get it summarized. Also how do you make the 42 columns list the days of the month for 42 different entries based on the start date you proved it? Thanks so much for any assistance...
