I'm trying to use the value of a control in a form to compute an auxiliary text expression within the same form, but everything I try results in "#Name?" being displayed as the result. So, I tried something even more simple: just displaying the single value itself. If I enter the name of the variable in the Control Source (e.g., 'RegistrantName' - wothout the quotes), it works fine, but if I try to build an expression from it (e.g. '= [RegistrantName]' - also w/o quotes), I get the error.

I know there has to be a simple answer for this, but I'm new to game. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Seem to have solved my own problem, but I don't know why: I used the "Compact and Repair" utility, and now everything seems to work OK, but what is it that I 'fixed' by doing this?
