Hi Everyone,
I have a question for anyone that can help.
I have a main server running sbs2000. My company recently bought a 2nd server standard 2003. I have moved all of the "old" server files to the "new" but I want to make the 2003 server the primary DC so I can take the sbs2000 down and wipe it clean {slow performance} but I just cant figure out HOW to make this happen. If anyone can point me in the direction I'm suppose to go I would greatly appreciate it. I think I would have to change which server is running the FSMO's but I dont know the proper way to do it{keep taking the "long" approach.

My advice would be to use DCPromo, and promote the standard server to a Domain Controller - make sure, if needed, you make it a global catalog server.

Once thats up and running, use DCPromo to demote the SBS Server

Forgot to add, make sure the Domain is in Mixed Mode, which will allow both 2000 and 2003 DC Servers.

If it's in Native, I dont think it will allow it without some editing of AD.
