Hi all

I am new new to the who VPN side of networking but have just finished building my first vpn server.

Here is my setup. I had a old winNT VPN (PPTP) server setup, I have built a new windows 2003 server with two network cards. both are connected to the internal network one of the nic I have given the IP address of the old winnt vpn server (turned the old one off). on my router/firewall I have a Nat table with a rule to forward all traffic to this internal IP address, this worked fine before with the NT server. so with using routing and remote access I have setup the VPN server but no clients are able to connect to it. I keep getting Error 800, which does not mean much.

Now the only difference between the new setup and the old vpn setup is that the new machine has two network cards, both internal IP address but one being the IP address of the old VPN server (which is linked to the external VPN ip address on the router).

I am sorry if all this does not make much sense, but please do ask if you have any questions.

I hope you can help me clear this up.

thanks a million

In most cases, VPN error 800 is port or port forwarding issue. But I think the problem is you are assigning the same subnet to those NICs. In other words, you should not use the same IP range in a multihomed computer. Otherwise, you may have a name resolution or connectivity issue. These search result may help.
