Newbie VPN question: Win Server 2008 VPN in home network

Hi, I'm setting up a new Windows Server 2008 machine from home and want to access it, and virtual machines running on it, from other locations. At home I just have a wireless adsl modem/router which I connect to wirelessly from my laptop and have my server plugged into. My adsl connection has a static IP address.

I don't have experience setting up Win Server so want the simplest option ! ... eg it's not on a domain and doesn't have PKI stuff. I think what I want is to set up a PPTP VPN, but even knowing the best way to phrase my question would be good as it would help me to search for relevant articles.

The server will only be at home temporarily so I don't want to make it into an internet gateway/router/etc. I just want it to sit on the network and accept connections from the outside world. So it has a single NIC that it uses to connect to the router, through which I guess it will accept traffic from the internet as well as local network traffic. (It actually has two network ports but only one plugged into the router...)

I also intend to run various virtual machines on the server, so would like to be able to connect to them remotely too.

Can anyone give me any tips on where to start with this? Most VPN guides focus on positioning a VPN server between a corporate network and the internet... which might be what I'm doing but isn't how I'm thinking about it. They also tend to require a PDC and various other pieces that would normally exist on a corporate network but I'm not interested in.

thanks!

Depending on the version of 2008 and the license, you can make it a VPN server...I guess this is what you want? I have not yet done it with 2008, but I might have time to look into it tomorrow...I have about 4 servers with it installed (Enterprise, 64 bit). Boy is it fast! Too bad it looks like Vista...lol
