Here's what we're trying to accomplish. We have about 50 PCs on our network and we want to create a system DSN that allows a connection through ODBC to a DB2 database. When creating the DSN in the ODBC Data Source Administrator, it works smoothly on some machines. On others, when we get to the step where we choose the TCP/IP protocol, the target operating system options don't appear. Any suggestions or ideas on why this is happening is greatly appreciated.

RollingMoose,
This post is pretty stale so you've probably already solved your problem. (Driver version?)

What I wanted to suggest is that you use a File DSN instead of a System DSN. The reason is that if you ever move or rename your database, you'll have to visit all 50 machines and update the DSN. If you use a file DSN and put it on a share that everyone has access to, you only need to update it in one place if something changes.

Can save you a lot of work.

Tranman,

Thanks for your reply. We updated our version of DB2 for Windows client and that seemed to do it for us. Thanks for the suggestion on the file DSN. We're going to use that as you suggested.
