Hi there,

I have not used VSS before and am having some trouble setting it up. I have had it pushed down locally and am trying to set up a database on the server.

I have created the dir, run mkss <dir>, and ddconv <dir>.
The dir is populated with sub folders a-z, locks etc but no .ini database file.

I'm following the help guide instructions....

Can anyone possibly help me out on this one?

Thanks in Advance,
Rocks.

The only experiance that I have with this beast is in trying to get VSS to monitor an Access database. If that is what you are trying to do you have to go into Access under tools and tell VSS to create it as a VSS database. This is(as far as I can tell) totaly undocumented. I am in the process of trying to scrape VSS off of my server so that I can have my database back!!!!

Sorry if that didn't help but I am tearing my hair out over this %$#$#% thing.

Using the mkss is not the correct way to build your
database, even if it is the way that it is mentioned
in the help. Use SourceSafe Admin instead. This progam
should be in the Visual Studio/SourceSafe program
group.
