I just purchased (EBAY) a Compact ICS KSU (NT7B58AA Rel. 02F) and it comes with one analogue trunk card (NT7B75GB LS/DS)

A few questions:

1) What does LS/DS mean?
2) Will this analogue card support Caller ID?
3) What's the latest version of software that I can get and what do you think is a fair price?

I currently have a 3X8 DR5 and want to upgrade.

Also, the 3X8 doesn't allow CID to be automatically displayed on more than one set at a time. (F811 is a pain). My interpretation of the manual is that I can assign CLID to appear automatically on any set with the ringing turned on. Is that correct?

Thanks for your help, and any suggestions on good prices for parts that I need.

Shawn

1. LS/DS stands for loop start/disconnect supervision
2. You need a CI card.
3. 4.2 is the latest software for the CICS (to the best of my knowledge)

A fair price for 4.2 software would be in the $250.00-$350.00

Good luck

Actually 6.0 is now out for the CICS, as well as the MICS.

I can't seem to find a definition of Loop Start anywhere?
What's does it do?

Thanks again..

Loop Start is just your typical analog line, if you put a butt set or a regular phone on the line and can access dial tone, you have a loop start line. If you need a detailed definition, let me know and I will post one.

Shawn,
CLID display info for both the 3X8 DR 5 and the CICS Rls.xx
is dependant on whether a phone rings on an outside line. You must have a ringing phone to see auto CLID. Upgrading to a CICS any Rls won't solve your issue.

On the 3X8 I do get the CLID however can only configure so that it auto-displays on one specific set per line.

What I would like is to have the auto-display come up on all sets with the rigning line without having to F811. It can't be done on the 3X8 and I've tried everything I can (answer key, CFNA, etc).

When I reveiwed the manual for the CICS 4.2, it was somewhat ambiguous.

Shawn,

Arr is somewhat correct, telephone needs to be ring telephone for lines that you want to see appear with CLID info before you pick up the telephone. This setting can be set by each set under Telco Features - SHOW , Feature Assign - Next, Caller ID set to yes, per each set with ring ing lines.

Try this for starters.....I know you will need CICS 4.0 or higher.

Regarding your caller ID issue,in the 308 you can only see the CLID information on one phone before you pick up the handset and the rest you have to use feature 811,in the CICS any revision for that matter you can see the caller ID information on all the phones before you pick the handset and without F811.You can use any release ,the latest one is 6.0.I hope that help.

Good Luck.

I have had conflicting info from a friend. Does the CICS have an internal ATA?

Thanks again all!

Glad I'm only somewhat correct. Hate to be wrong all the time. I have a 3X8 in service that I have got to show CLID info on all sets that ring. This is a new 3x8. Fluke, differences??
Yes there is an IATA in CICS units. Has to be activated seperately unless you buy new bundle or some other arrangement. Often times a refurb Fastrad will work out cheaper than a keycode upgrade.

Thanks Arr.

So, what's the trick? How can I get CLID to auto-display on all sets that ring?

Shawn,
Well WIP may not be wrong that I'm only somewhat correct. A life long ambition of mine... to be completely right just onece.... As I indicated the 3x8 is new. I'm not sure what I did... just set it up to go and presto... I think I set up each phone to be the prime or display phone for the CLID lines. If you already have the CICS of course there will be no glitches. 3X8s are good. CICS is better.

Cheers
