I have created a shared public folder on MS Server 2008 for anyone in my workgroup to access. I used the server wizard to create the share. The problem is that, although it is supposedly available to everyone with all rights granted, it keeps asking for name and password when trying to access from other machines. What am I diong wrong? Anu advice is greatly appreciated. TIA.

Is this a Domain Controller? Else just try to enable the guest account.

Do they have file permissions on this directory?

You need to add Anonymous to the share permissions and ntfs perms. Anonymous by default is not part of the everyone group.
