I have a 3640 that I want to upgrade the flash memory on. The system currently has a 16MB Flash Module and an 8MB Flash Module installed. I want to pull the 8MB Module and install another 16MB in its place.

How do I copy off the current config and IOS image that is in the current flash and reload these once I have changed out the modules

System flash directory:
File Length Name/status
1 11442604 c3640-is-mz.121-5.YD6.bin
[11442668 bytes used, 13723156 available, 25165824 total]
24576K bytes of processor board System flash (Read/Write)

Easy explenation, copy flash tftp would be the command you are looking for in this case. How to use this command, well you need a tftp server (program you can download for this, free ones everywhere.. ) Supply the command, then follow the prompts. If you need a more in depth version of this let me know.

Forgot to mention, the router should when you have replaced the flash modules boot up into a sort of mini-IOS only capable of limited commands. You can then run the command again in reverse order. ie. copy tftp flash

It will ask you the host address, name of the file (often just copy and paste the name in..easier than typing). Again, if you want a complete, stepby step let me know I'll draw the whole thing out. But seeing as it is rather a simple process you should do well with what I posted.
