The daily backup of the files on our server with ARC-serve 2000 version 7 doesn't seem to go wrong.
At least: the log-file says some 200.000 files are copied to the backup medium.
When trying to restore i put a tape in the machine and look up the media ID. After that in restore-manager - restore by session, after finding the right ID, i click the tree but there are no files visible even when the additional information says lots of files are on the tape.
i really don't understand what's going wrong and any help would be very much appreciated. Thanx in advance.

Rob

Perhaps
1)the data was not merged into the database in the 1st place
2)the data was pruned out of the database
3)the database is corrupt

try merging the tape back into the database
check the activity log for messages reporting the session was merged after the backup
check the job details to see if it is configured to merge in all details or just summary session and job information.

davidmichel is correct. The first step would be to merge the tape back into the database and see if you can see the information under the restore menu afterwards.

I've seen some odd issues with the restore menu before. One thing I like to try is to take the tape to another server (not the one that it was backed up on) and try merging the tape on the other server. Usually I can run the restore from the other server if the first one isn't displaying the information correctly.

davidmichel and Russel5 : after reading your comments it was very easy to solve my problem. The configuration-settings weren't right.
Thanks for helping me out.
