newbie question, replace MS exchange with postfix

Hello to all the postfix gurus


To start from the beginning I am new to postfix I do have experience in IBM AIX but very newbie to the mail system and I did not use any in the AIX.
My question is:
I want to offer an alternative to Microsoft exchange I mean when I say alternative to:
1 the postfix should act as SMTP (send and receive mail from and to all)
2. Local delivery of mail between local office users,
3: all the function of outlook should be achieve like the ability to share calanders to have contact list etc ,


Does it all possible with postfix, dovecot and kerio ?

My second question (and I hope it is not very newbie question) is how can I accomplish as easy as possible the first question is there any how to for this one from the beginning till the end

I do have very very good experience with this forum and I hope that also this time (very newbie question I suppose) someone will be there to give some minutes from his time to put light on this darkness of mine

Postfix can certainly handle the SMTP and mailbox-delivery functions, items 1 and 2 on your list. You would also need an IMAP/POP server like Dovecot or Courier for your users to access their mailboxes. And if you need POP download of incoming mail from an external host then you'll also want Getmail or Fetchmail. There is good documentation available for all those programs, and they're not particularly complicated to set up.

As regards sharing of calendars, that's really a different subject altogether, and I'm afraid I can't help there.
