Can someone tell me where I can find some information on how to rename a volume group? I am trying to rename a volume group from appsvg to appsold. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated!!!

TIA

Follow the following steps (note - replace testvg, newtestvg with your VG name. Same for filesystems.):

Unmount all filesystems in the volume group:
(x9A3)/#umount testfs

Vary off the appsvg:
(x9A3)/#varyoffvg testvg

export the appsvg:
(x9A3)/#exportvg testvg

import the new volume group using the -y option and a hdisk number that the old volume group was on:
(x9A3)/#importvg -y newtestvg hdisk3
0516-010 lqueryvg: Volume group must be varied on; use varyonvg command.
newtestvg

Mount the filesystems that exist on the old volume group and now are on appsoldvg:
(x9A3)/#mount /testfs
