Hello All,

I have a customer who wants to move their CR from one server to another. I know almost nothing about CR except you can use it to attach to a database and design reports. This customer has MS SQL and they have made an in house web application. I don't even know what questions to ask the customer. They are going to find out what version of CR they have and let me know.

For a move like this, what do I need to do? What questions should I ask? etc.

I am hoping to take a look at their systems sometime soon, so if I should look for anything to help you help me let me know.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,

- Zych

Am I in the right forum? Since this is not labeled Crystal Reports I want to make sure I am posting this in the correct area. I also thought this would be a basic question like how do I move Word and it's documents to a new machine.

You might try posting to the forum "Business Objects: Crystal Reports 4 Other topics."

I don't think this is really a Crystal Enterprise issue.

There are some additional questions that come to mind that you might consider including in your post.

[ol]
[li]The version of Crystal Reports (very important)[/li]
[li]They are moving the program or the reports or both?[/li]
[li]What method the customer is likely to use to "push" the reports out via the web interface. There are a number of ways.[/li]
[li]What method is Crystal using to access the data? There are a few different ways to do this.[/li]
[/ol]

To answer these questions opening a report in the design mode and using the "Database" > "Data Expert" (in Crystal 10) will answer quite a few of these questions.
