Newbie Question - Hide Search Tool in WSS

Hi

We have a small SP site and as it is intutive enough for users to find what they want without searching, we want to hide the search tool in the top right corner. However, as the site grows we may want to show it again later.

Does anyone know of a way to hide or disable the search tool and the show or enable it again later? I can't find an option in the site settings, and in FrontPage I have tried commenting or removing the code, but I get problems when I try to put it back in.

Please note that I am an Administrator but do not have Server access.
