Hey Guys,

I have looked in our IT Closet and found our Phone System, but I don't have any information that identifies it. I am not sure what type of system it is(model, serial, etc). I am guessing its a nortel system, as the handsets are meridian; and the little programming I have done on handsets follows nortel programming guides. Is there any way I can find what sort of Phone System we have?

Any insight into this would be awesome.

if you have login access ot the Meridain 1 PBX, go to ld 22 and type ISS at the REQ prompt and hit enter, should show something like this:

>ld 22
PT2000

REQ iss

VERSION 2521
RELEASE 3
ISSUE 00 + DepList x210300_cpt

typing TID at the same REQ prompy will show you the serial number

Thanks,

Buddy

If you're doing the programming on the phones themselves (i.e., Feature ** CONFIG), then it's a Norstar system (or possibly a BCM).

Or are you using a TTY to program?

If it's a big blue cabinet with doors and lots of light grey cards inside, probably an SL-1.

If it's a cabinet (or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5) hanging on the wall, about 2x2' in size, then it's likely an Option 11c or a CS1000. If it's sitting on the floor in large rectangular blocks stacked on top of each other - then it's likely an Option 51c, 61c, 81c or CS1000.

If it's smaller 1x2' cabinets that are rack-mounted, again, it's likely a CS1000.

In that case, log on, go to LD 22, and type in ISS. It'll tell you the software you're running.

Thanks guys for your replies.

Forgive my newbieness. Programming occurs Feature ** Config on the handsets. That being the case, according to nessman its a Norstar system. How can I find model, version, etc?

What is tty?

Again all, thanks for the quick replies. And Additionally are there any good books out there that will take my newbieness and teach me all this neat phone concepts, and idea?

TTY = teletype (serial port to a dumb terminal or terminal emulator)... which in your case wouldn't apply.

There's a Norstar forum on this website. I don't remember the key sequence to get to the system version. But you can get to it through the config menu.
