Hi,
I have managed to end up having to learn Sharepoint admin - lucky me :)
I have a site that you drill into and end up at a page with 3 icons on it that are folders. They are sub-areas. I also see a contents list on the left with them listed there. I would like to remove them from the contents list. I have removed the sub-areas - that works - but then when you click the icon, it cannot find the sub area ('cos I deleted it - d'oh!) and so I have to recreate it - and lo, it is back in the contents list.

How, oh how do I remove a listing from the contents list and yet leave the sub-area intact? I'm sure it is a simple thing to do, but I can't find it for looking!

Any help appreciated

Sussed it.
Within the manage portal site, in the settings for that sub area, display tab, I found a check box marked "Exclude from Portal site navigation". Ticked that, and it is excluded from the contents web part.

Phew! I knew it had to be something simple
