Hello All:

Mitel newbie question on the best way to send a DID to its' voicemail box. We've been asked to secure a DID, which we've done. We don't yet know what they want to have the call flow be.

The DN matches the last 4 digits of the DID. That extension resides on a phantom set with many other DID DNs, presumably so they're not given out erroneously as they are limited in the organization. We've created a voicemailbox with the matching number. The DID is not associated to a user, it is for a main number. We put the extension also on a hardware set for testing and were able to test calling it successfully. It rings but doesn't go to voicemail.

What is the best way to have a shared number ring on several sets and hunt/forward to voicemail on busy or no answer? Thanks!

best thing is to identify the type of Mitel pabx you are using and what voicemail

- assuming evmail and Mivb
- we generally use trusted devices for dummy numbers ( 1 per extension) , that way they have their own COS for setting timers etc
- if you assign it on a shared device then it will adopt the cos of that shared device
if you change to that you can just reroute it 1st alternate to the voicemail ( unanswered calls)
- can also add it as multicall keys on other phones so that they can answer
OR send the number to a ring group and put the users into that group that need to answer it

there is no 'best ' way as such , it will depend upon what other things need to be happen when someone calls it

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

To Add to Billz66's response

I too use trusted devices. It also makes it easier to name the device and put notes via the Department and location fields.

Thank you both!
It's a Mitel 3300 - Nupoint/MiCollab environment
Please direct me as to how to create a "Trusted Device"
Thanks much!

Exactly the same as creating a phone. The only difference is that the license type is set to trusted.

we normally just create a 5312 device with license set to trusted
apply cos as required
we use 5312 as they stand out in exports of the data

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....
