Newbie: Printing Question

Hello,

I am going to be writing an application on a Windows machine that will be sold and distributed to Mac OS X users. Java does this right?

I am going to have to print text and text only to a printer. What am I going to run into?

I ask this because with a language called REALbasic the printing code written does not function the same on a PC as it does on Mac.
