Newbie OLAP question

I have a fact table with ~ 10,000 records in MS OLAP and 16 dimension tables. A report was created against the fact table but only 7,000 records show up even when I did not filter on any of the dimension tables.

I am very new with OLAP and would like to know where I should start to troubleshoot this problem.

Not enough info for me to help you! Fill in more details:

SQL7? - Enterprise, Standard or Desktop.

Snowflake Schema or Star Schema?

Have you checked that all records in the fact table have relevant keys in the dimension tables?

What are you using to create the report?

Is one of the dimensions time? (Has its own problems!)

Are all dimensions flat? - Or hierachical?

Are you using the built-in cube viewer? (It isn't always reliable!)
