Ok, first time using Terminal on my Mac OS X.
I have installed mySQL and I need to set up the root password. Instructions say to use Terminal and type the command in the bin directory of the MySQL installation.

Ok, how do I get to the bin directory after the Terminal window opens?!?! I know this has got to be the most basic thing, but like I said...first time in Terminal.

Thanks.

I'm guessing you would type: /usr/bin/mysql
if not, try: /bin/mysql

though your default path should enable you to simply type: mysql

I assume the file you're trying to run is executable - it should have permissions of rwxr-xr-x or similar if you do an ls -la on it.
