Hello,

I have been working with Novell server systems only for many years, and now I am setting up my first Windows Server. I am using an old server for this installation (PII 350 dual processor with 524 megs of RAM) and have gone through the loading of the four floppy disks and then the CD-Rom. Now when the server reboots it goes to the Windows2000 Server Family window and just hangs. The Start up progress box shows no activity at all. Rebooting the server just brings me back to the same point.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks,

Chuck

p.s. I did make sure the BIOS was to the latest version

Is this a real server or a glorified PC? If it is a real server then you may need to make a selection in the bios to tell it you are trying to load W2K. We have a Compaq Proliant 5500 and that is the only way to install any OS on the server.

Bob,

Thanks for the reply. I would say that this machine leans more to the side of a glorified PC but it is a Gigabyte (tm) server motherboard with dual processors and all the bells and whistles to go along with it. So in reality its a real server but I will always think of it as a PC thats been working out! :)
I will check and see if there is an option in the bios for the operating system.

Thanks again,

Chuck

Bob,

Quick update, I did still have my setting in the BIOS set to NON-OS2 once I changed to OS2 the setup wizard is now running!

Thanks again,

Chuck
