I just bought a 766 ISDn router and I'm having trouble with communicationg with the router to configure it. I'm trying to access it to change the configurations using telnet. When I open telnet and click on connect the only options I have are connect to a remote system or exit. My router isn't showing up to access it. All I have it connected to is the serial cable on the config port. I haven't actually connected it to a network yet because I want to become more familiar with it first. If anyone can tell me what I need to do I would greatly appreciate it. By the way I loaded the Cisco 760-770 IR series disk on to my computer. It has the TFTPBOOT file on it.

With a serial connection you will need to use hyperterminal to connect to the router.

Open Hyperterminal
Name your session something
Set the Connect Using to Direct to COM1
Set Bits per Second to 9600
Data bits to 8
Parity to none
Stop Bits to 1
Flow Control to none

This will open a session to the router, then you just need to hit enter to get to a prompt.
