Just started working in a HP-UX LAN and need to change the root password on all the boxes. No problem with all but one. I logged onto the J5600 as root with no problem. Then went to SAM and User accounts. Selected the root account and right clicked "modify user password". Then a terminal window came up and asked for the old password. I put in the same one I used to log into the account and I get a "sorry" reply, nothing else. Anyone have an idea what may be happening? Thanks for any help.

What happens if you try to use the "passwd" command from the command line?
