How do I:

1) Launch a script in the .gnome-desktop folder when it's double clicked instead of prompting with a dialog box?
2) Add a program to the menu?

I'm trying to sell my boss on using Redhat 7.2 with OpenOffice 1.0 for some workstations, but I need to have the desktop icon and "start menu" working like they do on a Windows machine.

Any help is most appreciated!

in the gui enviorment if you right click on the desktop then click New then Launcher. that is how you set up a desktop Icon.

as for adding it to the start menu I am working on that myself still.

But if you have the .rpm file redhat should do it for you.

start a gui as root
I use Gnome so I go to the foot click on it then utilities then Gnorpm from there I install the package and redhat puts everything where i need it.
