Newbie has to find username in system... 1

Yeah I'm a stupid Windows-Administrator with the following problem: The UID 915 is in use, but I can't find the corresponding username. Unfortunately we have to much people fooling around in our system and the few unix-commands I know are not helpful in this case...

Look at file /etc/passwd
There will be a line like this:
username:xyz:915:...

you can also try

ypcat passwd | grep -i <search string>

in your case

ypcat passwd | grep -i 915
