I was creating dummy account with Sun Solaris ver. 8 & 9 and I was able to use the admintool & to create accounts at the command line. Now, I'm using Sun Solaris ver 10.0. How do I create users accounts?

Solaris 10 doesn't have the old admintool, use smc (gui) or the commandline tools (useradd, groupadd, ...) instead.

Thanks, Can I start the smc(gui) from the command line?

Yes, assuming your $DISPLAY is set correctly etc. smc & should do it. smc is in /usr/sbin.

SMC (Solaris Management Console) is started with command smc &...

Be patient... The first initialization of smc take a few minutes.

I have found the user admistration using smc is quite painful... I have gone back to my SunOS days and create my user accounts manually using useradd

Thanks, again; I'm working from a Solaris Training lab book and one of the task is to create users account through the gui..I prefer to use the command line.
