I have two PCs.

The first runs Windows 98SE and the second runs Windows 2000 Pro.

Both have LAN cards.

I acquired a 3Com Linkbuilder TP/8 (Model: 3C16180) and I cannot find any documentation for it.

Both PCs are connecting to Internet and have different IP addresses.

The question is: How do I create a network to allow the two PCs to share files etc. and appear each on the other machine?

Is it even possible?

Does anybody have the documentation? I cannot find it on the 3Com web site.

All / any advice greatly appreciated.

The reason why you are not able to find it is because it is so old. That is way before my time...it still uses BNC connectors. What you are asking to do is not hard but you will want something faster. Get some 10/100 cards off of Ebay, I suggest 3com ones, you can find a 10 pack for under 5 dollars sometimes. Then if you are just using two systems have a local computer store make you a cross over cable. If not look for some switches or hubs that are cheap.
