I'm trying to get a understanding of out new IP Office 3.0 system. Basically all I need to do is to switch 2 user's phones. They are just switching desks.
I know I can simply switch the cables on the patch panel but would rather make the change in the software.
Anyone want to give me the basics? or if there is a resourse out there that would cover the basic admin stuff like this I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks, Matt

Goto the Extension field on the Manager that’s the Yellow Icons look like telephones. Each one of these is a port on the IPO with an associated user. You will see the ones you want to move just change the extension numbers on these ports and the users associated with these numbers will follow.

[cheers]

Personaly I would still recommend changing the patch cables as the simplest solution.

Agree with the above.
Far far easier, and if your system follows any kind of extension logic layout on the DT/DS/Pots Modules then you will be upsetting this.

If you persist to do it in the Manager then i suggest to swap the telephone numbers of the Extensions and reboot the IP Office ( this is why you will be advised to swap patch cords, you do not have to reboot IP Offcie ).

Heres how you can swap extensions without rebooting your IP Office. I have one that has approximately 200 users and we can never reboot unless its after hours. Do the following. Go to your extension list and find the two extensions. Write down the extension ID on a piece of paper so not to get confused. Lets say for example you are switching ext 301 (ID 101) with ext 305 (ID 105).

Make extension 301 = 801
Make extension 305 = 301
Save and merge the config
Walk over to the new extension 301 and dial *36 (two beeps) and hang up.
The extension should say 301

Open your config again
Make extension 801 = 305
Save and merge the config
Walk over to the new extension 305 and dial *36 (two beeps) and hang up.
The extension should say 305

This comes in handy when you have a large customer and you want to keep your cables from looking like spaghetti at the end of the day.
