Hope somone can help me here.
I'm completely new to to the whole Unix/Linux enviroment, but I have recieved a copy of zipslack ( small distro of linux capable of running from a zip disk)
I have put this on my had drive (it doesn't need its own partition) and I am able to boot into it from dos and log on as "root".
The problem I'm having is installing x11 (which I believe is something to do with a basic GUI) I have tried using pkgtool to install the files but for each file it returns the error:
tar:.:Could not change access and modification times: Operation
ntar:.:Cannot change mode to 0755: Operation not permitted
tar:.:Cannot ? to uid 0 gid 0: operation not permitted
tar:.:error eit delay from previous errors
( the ? is where I can't read my own writing- it might be chow or chown)
Any help in over coming this obstacle would be great as I would like to be able to give this a go with a graphical interface before hopefully feeling confident enough to get a full version to make my PC dual boot or maybe even investing in a second PC
I look forward to hearing from you
