There are a number of good sources:
.org for postfix has good examples.
An excellent primer for sendmail is "Sendmail for Linux.",
even though it basically does nothing more than simplify
what should be included in your sendmail docs.
I would suggest postfix for security and relative
simplicity for first timers:but nothing beats sendmail for
a feeling of accomplishment when you finish compiling the
config file and it runs properly;-)

Hi,
The other main one is qmail. Qmail was the package that M$ used under FreeBSD to run their Hotmail service until they thought it might sound better if they ran their own stuff. See --> .
