new windows in IE are minimized

When I open a new IE window, either from MSN Messenger, or a link to a new window. They always come up minimized. Any suggestions?

Start IE5 , right click any URL and select Open in a New Window .
Go back to the first IE5 window you opened and close it .
Return to the second window and manually drag it to fill the screen .
( Do not use the maximize button , that's a temporary setting that will not be retained )

Now press the Ctrl button , and close this second window , holding the Ctrl button depressed , using 'close' in the File menu (important!) .
All windows should now open maximized .
