Can anyone please help a beginner?

I have several pages in a file (let's call it AAA) but several attempts to upload it to the ISP's holding page (public_html) have failed.

At the first attempt to get help from the ISP they said: 'You have uploaded you web files into a directory called AAA but your index.htm file needs to be straight into the public-html directory so that it will overwrite the existing index.htm holding page'. Further attempts to do this were unsuccessful.

Further requests for help brought: 'Change the structure within the web site on your PC so that it uploads the whole
web site into the public_html and not into another directory (AAA) under the public-html'. Additional attempts have still failed.

Any help (in idiot's language!), would be gratefully appreciated.

Eric

The index.htm page is the gateway to your web site. It's the page the server will automatically go to when you type in
Therefore, you need to make sure that you have a page named index.htm or index.html on your website. The index page needs to reside in the main subweb of your web page, probably called MyWeb.

Many thanks for kindly answering my query. Forgive me for not commenting on it at this stage because I am forwarding it to my colleague who is actually involved with the practical aspect of this problem.

Will let you know how he gets on.
